SHARINGS - Manggagamot

CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT BEING WITH PEOPLE

natawa naman ako sa comment mo about the nursery rhyme. but when you think about it, most nursery rhymes are a bit morbid: jack and jill fell off the hill and actually had a skull fracture. and need we mention poor old humpty dumpty.

but going back to the topic of christmases - ang aming staple ay ham na ginawa ng mommy ko with ingredients which we would later learn are carcinogenic. but since lahat naman kaming magkakapatid ay matataba ngayon - siguro di tumatalab ang carcinogenic substances sa sikmurang sobrang gutom .

we had a small silver christmas tree made of palara that came up to my knee when i was 6 years old. kaya ngayon na medyo may kaya na kaming magkakapatid - palakihan naman kami ng puno. but what you said is true - christmas should be about the people that you care for. kaya kahit medyo "evolved" na ang aming christmas and we now have a proper tree and nutritious ham, we make it a point that beyond the gift giving our kids know that the true highlight of the celebration was being with each other.

(Thanks, Doctor! A voice from the next generation. I plead guilty also of preparing ham with such “substance”. We didn’t know any better, then. Ngayon siguro, later on, you and I will find ourselves in the same boat, when we learn that all the “healthy” vegetables and food we serve our family now are all GMO. And what do we know about them now?

Yes, Christmas is about being with each other. And about being with other people, too. True, it begins with ourselves, that’s just human. Even the giving to others, if analyzed further, goes back to the giver, what he wants to give, what he can give.

Only, when we grow a bit older, more mature, perhaps, we begin to think of giving in terms of what the others want, or need or will enjoy receiving. It takes time, but we learn. And when we get to that point, even if the things we give aren’t something material, we are truly celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.)
